Brandon Flowers Looks Back at the Past on Anthemic Single ‘Tiger’s Blood’

Brandon Flowers dropped a new single, “Tiger’s Blood.” The track comes ahead of his forthcoming solo album, Thrasher, out Aug. 21, 2026 via Island Records.

Flowers debuted the Springsteen-esque song last week during his set at Newport Folk Fest. Like the rest of Thrasher, “Tiger’s Blood” was recorded in Nashville with Flowers’ longtime producers Shawn Everett and Jonathan Rado.

“Last thing that I heard/ You were doing okay,” Flowers croons on the nostalgic anthem. “I still smile when I remember us in younger days/ The things that we can’t explain/ Roll on like a runaway train/ Into the fire and out of the frame/ Wild and gone like a runaway train.”

Some of the musicians who recorded on the album include Gillian Welch collaborator David Rawlings, pedal steel guitarist Bruce Bouton, and harmonica player Charlie McCoy, whose playing graced Bob Dylan’s Nashville LPs. Flowers has so far shared “Paradise,” “Plans,” and a live version of that song filmed at RCA Studio A. He will tour in support of Thrasher this fall. The trek kicks off Sept. 1 in Phoenix and wraps Oct. 6 in Las Vegas.

“I unlocked a room that I feel that has been waiting for me all along: country western music,” Flowers said in an album trailer, which found him traveling through the desert, clad in western wear. “It has offered itself to me and the stories I have to tell at the moment with a breezy enthusiasm.”

He added, “This is not me running away from rock & roll. I don’t want to replace my old songs. I simply found room for more.”

Flowers recently admitted in an interview with the Times that he has considered quitting music in recent years. “I’m really going through it right now: How much longer do I want to do this, what does it mean, why am I doing it anyway?” he said. “Whenever I finish a tour, without fail I get sick. Then I think of Mick Jagger and ask myself: What keeps him getting up on that stage? I guess it’s because there are powerful moments in a concert. How could I not want to do that?”
