BRITs Critics Choice winner Jacob Alon announces special “in the round” London show and extra UK and Ireland tour dates

Jacob Alon has announced new UK and Ireland tour dates, which include a special “in the round” London show. Check out the details below.

The announcement comes following the Scottish art-folk artist being announced as the winner of the 2026 BRITs Critics Choice – beating off competition from Rose Gray and SIENNA SPIRO.

It also comes on the heels of the singer being confirmed as one of the headline acts set to take to the stage for the BRITs Week shows, with proceeds going to War Child and helping youth around the globe affected by conflict.

The new shows kick off with a gig at the Button Factory in Dublin on April 15, and continue the following night (16) with another show at the Trinity Centre in Bristol.

From there, Alon will head to London for a one-off show at the Roundhouse on April 18 for a special “in the round” show as part of the venue’s annual Three Sixty Festival.

All three new shows follow on from the aforementioned BRITs Week show, which will take place at the Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh on February 27. Tickets for the gigs will be available from tomorrow (Friday February 6) at 10am. Visit here for tickets.

Jacob Alon’s UK and Ireland 2026 shows are:

FEBRUARY
27 – Assembly Rooms, Edinburgh (BRITs Week x War Child)

APRIL
15 – Button Factory, Dublin
16 – Trinity Centre, Bristol
18 – Roundhouse, London (Three Sixty Festival)

With the Critic’s Choice Award for this year’s BRITS, the rising folk star adds to an impressive list of winners of the prize, including Adele, Florence and the Machine, Ellie Goulding, Sam Smith, Jorja Smith, The Last Dinner Party and Myles Smith.

“To being part of something like this makes me feel like I’m floating far above the sky,” the singer said when announced as the 2026 recipient of the honour.

“In a world full of broken and rusted jaggy edges, I’m grateful to find a place for softness still. And I will keep fighting for it. I really care about and believe in this music, and it makes my world brighter every time it reaches someone else. Hopefully this means some more beautiful people might find something in my album. Thank you to anyone who has ever listened.”

Alon’s debut album ‘In Limerence’ was nominated for the Mercury Prize last year. At the time NME spoke to them at the shortlist announcement, where they said the album “packs a punch”.

“There’s this thing called The Dictionary Of Obscure Sorrows, and it has these words that describe these very specific feelings. This isn’t in there, but it feels akin to that vibe,” Alon said.

Before then, NME also interviewed the artist in their Fife hometown in Spring 2025, and during that discussion, Alon explained how “music holds a very strong connection to memory for me”.

“There are certain songs I listen to in certain periods, and I get instantly transported back when I hear them. I think in the same way, through the process of writing, I’m connecting back to things – but there’s also new memories being formed,” they explained.

As well as Alon, other artists being honoured at this year’s BRITs include Mark Ronson, who has been awarded for his Outstanding Contribution to Music, and Noel Gallagher, who has been given the ‘Songwriter Of The Year’ award.

Performers so far have been confirmed as Ronson, Harry Styles, Wolf Alice, and Olivia Dean, and the nominees have been announced, with acts like former NME Cover star Lola Young, Sam Fender, Lily Allen and Lewisham rapper Jim Legxacy leading the way.

This year’s ceremony will be taking place at the Co-op Live arena in Manchester on Saturday February 28 – marking the first time that the event has been held outside of London in its nearly 50-year history.

Jack Whitehall is returning to host for the sixth time, this year’s trophy has been unveiled, designed by Matthew Williamson, and the public vote for Song of the Year with Mastercard and International Song of the Year is open now. Visit here for more information.

As for BRITs Week, other performers lined-up for intimate shows around the country include  Fatboy Slim, Lambrini Girls, Olivia Dean, Spiritualized and The K’s and more. Visit here for a full list.
