BTS hit North America with sold-out Arirang tour kickoff in Tampa

Global pop icons BTS officially launched the North American leg of their ‘ARIRANG’ World Tour this weekend, delivering a spectacular opening show at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. The first of three sold-out nights drew approximately 190,000 fans, marking a triumphant return for the group and setting a high bar for the 31-show run across the continent.

The tour follows the massive success of their latest album, ARIRANG, which recently debuted at Number 1 on the Billboard 200, alongside the chart-topping lead single “SWIM.” Utilizing a 360-degree, in-the-round stage design, the production placed the audience at the heart of the performance, creating an immersive experience that blended high-energy choreography with breathtaking visuals.

True to the album’s title, the production deeply integrated Korean cultural essence into the stadium setting. Traditional motifs and sound elements were woven throughout the setlist, but the emotional peak occurred during the track “Body to Body.” As the haunting melody of the traditional folk song “Arirang” filled the air, thousands of fans joined together to sing the refrain in Korean, creating a powerful moment of cultural unity.

The scale of the event transformed the city of Tampa into a vibrant festival ground. Tampa International Airport welcomed traveling fans with custom balloon arches and signage in the group’s signature palette. In a regal tribute, Old City Hall and several iconic local bridges were illuminated in light to celebrate the group’s arrival, underscoring the massive economic and cultural impact of the tour.

The North American leg will span 12 regions, including upcoming stops in Mexico City, Las Vegas, Toronto, and Chicago. The journey is set to culminate in a massive four-night residency at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles this September. As BTS continues to break records and redefine the boundaries of global pop, the ARIRANG tour stands as a testament to their enduring connection with the “ARMY” and their roots.
