A judge has thrown out a lawsuit over Cardi B’s 2024 hit single Enough (Miami).

The suit claimed the singer had copied an earlier track called Greasy Frybread. But the court ruled on Monday that there are “fatal deficiencies” in the litigation.

The suit was started two years ago by Joshua Fraustro and Miguel Aguilar, who produced Greasy Frybread for rapper Sten Joddi.

The duo alleged the multiple Grammy winner lifted the song’s melody and bassline for Enough (Miami), which hit number nine on the Billboard Hot 100.

Fraustro and Aguilar initially sued Cardi for federal copyright infringement, but dropped those allegations after her lawyers pointed out that Greasy Frybread was not registered with the US Copyright Office.

They later reframed the lawsuit with a series of claims under Texas state law.

US District Judge Fernando Rodriguez Jr ruled that each part of Fraustro and Aguilar’s lawsuit was missing key pleading elements and that their claim for business interference contained “no factual support”.

Enough (Miami) was recently re-released on a new version of the album Am I the Drama?

Cardi B is the female rapper with the most number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100, and the only female rapper to achieve multiple solo number ones. Her song Bodak Yellow is the highest-certified digital female rap song of all time.
