Chappell Roan has praised Kesha for standing up for women in the music industry.
Speaking to Elle as part of Kesha’s October cover story, the Pink Pony Club hitmaker opened up about the support she received from the TiK ToK singer after performing at the Lollapalooza festival for the first time in August.
“Kesha was so lovely to me after my Lollapalooza set,” the 26-year-old singer said. “Because with that huge of a crowd, maybe only five other people there understood what that’s like. Kesha came to talk to me after, and it felt like a big sister was helping me through it.”
Chappell’s set was reportedly one of the biggest crowds in the festival’s history.
The Red Wine Supernova singer admitted Kesha’s reassurance made her and fellow artist Reneé Rapp emotional.
“Me and Reneé were crying because we felt like we were seen in a way we never had been before,” she shared.
She continued of the We R Who We R singer, “Kesha has always stood up for women and what she believes in, and that’s very inspiring.”
In the same interview, Reneé, 24, revealed that Kesha had reached out to her through social media to offer advice and support.
“When I was the same age in my career, I was so stressed,” Kesha told the publication. “Reneé has this really beautiful confidence of knowing exactly who the f**k she is. It’s inspiring to see women be exactly who they are, and still be so supportive.”
Kesha and Reneé first performed together in late 2023, and most recently performed Kesha’s hit TiK ToK at Coachella in April.
