On the hottest tour of the year, Charli xcx and Troye Sivan received rave reviews for their innovative performance, incorporating lighting techniques into their high energy setlist that transported fans into an underground nightclub and paired perfectly with an industrial set design of production scaffolding and a below stage cage-like catwalk. Variety declared “…the Sweat tour became one of the hottest tickets on the market. Throughout the two-hour show, the pair cashed in on all the attention with a breathless, rave-invoking performance.”
Rolling Stone noted “Charli and Troye pulled out all the stops on a production that had even the most Brat-exhausted fans full-throttle bumpin’ that.” Billboard writes “The back-and-forth kept both performances feeling fresh and brought a nice variety to the show, with Troye’s sleek choreography and lush pop songs complementing Charli’s brash solo performances and grittier club tracks.”
The duo also brought out several special guests across their New York and Los Angeles performances. At their sold out Madison Square Garden show, rising star Addison Rae joined Charli and Troye on stage to perform Addison’s recently released single “Diet Pepsi,” with Charli and Addison later performing their remix of “Von Dutch.” Critically acclaimed icon Lorde worked it out on the remix with Charli to perform “Girl, So Confusing.”
Across their two sold out Kia Forum performances, Charli and Troye were joined by pop sensation Kesha who performed alongside Charli singing their newly released remix of “Spring Breakers,” off of Charli’s recently released “BRAT” collaboration album. Troye then joined the pair on stage to perform “Tik Tok.” Troye surprised the crowd by bringing out breakout talent Tate McRae to join him for “You,” with social media star Vinnie Hacker joining Troye for a steamy performance of “One of Your Girls.”
The Sweat Tour showcased an impressive array of wardrobe collaborations from renowned fashion houses and up-and-coming designers. Charli xcx’s looks featured custom pieces from Rodarte, Jimmy Choo, Kyriacos, Mugler, Acne Studios and more. Troye Sivan also wowed the audience, sporting designs from Prada, Star Cat, Gucci, The Attico, Dilara Findikoglu, Martine Rose and several others.
The Sweat Tour was also a vibrant celebration of fashion and fandom colliding, with fans showcasing their most creative looks at every stop that were often inspired by iconic outfits of Charli xcx and Troye Sivan from past music videos and performances. Vogue noted in their fan fashion coverage in New York, “Whether people were repping Charli xcx or Troye Sivan, there was a prevailing sense of community.”
The tour was also a star-studded affair, attracting an array of VIPS like Malia & Sasha Obama, Christina Aguilera, Katy Perry, Jennie, Fergie, Bowen Yang, Andy Cohen, Marc Jacobs, Chappell Roan, Emily Ratajkowski, Renee Rapp, Kaia Gerber, and many more, who all joined in to enjoy the electric performances.
