Charli XCX has revealed she has nerve damage in her neck thanks to her energetic live concert performances.
The 32-year-old chart-topping star has spent large parts of this year on the road with her Sweat and Brat tours.
And while she is more than happy to give her all on stage so her fans have something to remember, the Fancy singer has revealed that her dedication to entertainment has come at a cost to her body.
Opening up to Variety, the singer said, “I find touring really hard emotionally. I find the stage – especially these days – to be a very angry place for me.
“I’ve done a lot of physical damage to my body from performing, and I’m often in a lot of pain when I perform. Physically, I have nerve damage in my neck from things I’ve done on the stage.”
The British singer recently embarked on a dual headline concert tour alongside Australian pop hunk Troye Sivan – and said having someone to share the performance load was a welcome relief.
The Used to Know Me singer said, “For me to give a performance I feel is good enough, I have to really physically throw myself around and that makes me very upset when I do it. It’s kind of this hellhole, but being with Troye softens that a lot.”
