Check out these snippets of new Foo Fighters music: “This is just a test”

Foo Fighters have teased fans by posting snippets of their newest music.

Last January, frontman Dave Grohl casually dropped the news of a finished album while playing the Australian leg of their ‘Take Cover’ tour.

He told the crowd that the album would land “before my next birthday [January 14, 2027]”, but gave no hints on what the music might sound like.

Now, the band’s social media have unleashed a flurry of snippets in a 19-second video.  Mysteriously captioned “This is just a test”, fans have theorised the video contains at least 12 separate songs.

The snippets show a much heavier side to the Foos, with breakneck rhythms of hardcore punk accompanying Grohl’s trademark screams. The snippets also included their recent single ‘Asking For A Friend‘, which dropped in October last year.

Take a listen to the snippets below:

The upcoming album would be their first new music since their 2023 album ‘But Here We Are‘. The record was a mournful farewell to their longtime drummer Taylor Hawkins, who died in March 2022 aged 50.

NME gave the record five stars, writing: ‘But Here We Are’ is a beautiful, noisy celebration of brotherhood and a stark, painful exploration of loss. It is messy, gut-wrenching, ambitious and gorgeous, as the remaining members of Foo Fighters push themselves to their limits and beyond.”

Since then, the band have released ‘Today’s Song’ in honour of their 30th anniversary as a band, with ‘Asking For A Friend’ being their most recent single. Foo Fighters also released a new live album capturing their recent run of intimate club shows. The six-track record, titled ‘Are Playing Where??? Vol. I’, arrived exclusively on Bandcamp in October.

The band also begun teasing more music last October, captioning their blistering snippet: “About to take flight…”

The band have just wrapped up the first few dates of their ‘Take Cover’ tour. Kicking off in Mexico in January, the Foos will arrive to the UK and Europe this summer. Along with festival appearances at Mad Cool, Pinkpop and more, the band will play two giant headline slots at Liverpool FC’s Anfield Stadium on June 25 and 27.

Guitarist Pat Smear will be absent from upcoming shows due to having broken his foot in a “bizarre gardening accident”.

Royel Otis, Inhaler, IDLES, Otoboke Beaver, Fat Dog and Die Spitz are set to support The Foos across various dates – find all dates below and buy your tickets here:
