Cher will headline the rebooted Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show next month.
On Tuesday it was confirmed the music icon will lead a line-up of all-female artists performing at the brand’s first runway showcase in five years.
Fans were promised further acts will be unveiled in the run-up to the show, which is scheduled for 15 October.
“It’s a woman’s world, so it’s understood that you can’t have a fashion show without the mother of fashion herself-@Cher!” read a message on the Victoria’s Secret official Instagram account.
“But she won’t be alone…stay tuned, more announcements are coming to round out our first-ever, all-women line-up.”
The showcase will be held at the Victoria’s Secret flagship store in New York, and marks a huge comeback for the fashion brand.
The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show was formerly an annual event, watched by millions on TV, and featured high-profile models wearing lingerie and oversized angel wings.
However, the runway spectacles were cancelled in 2019 following a backlash over the brand’s lack of diversity and inclusivity.
In May, Victoria’s Secret revealed their iconic showcase would be making a comeback.
“We’ve read the comments and heard you,” stated the company in an Instagram post. “The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is back and will reflect who we are today, plus everything you know and love – the glamour, runway, wings, musical entertainment and more. Stay tuned…it only gets more iconic from here.”
Models including Gigi Hadid, Tyra Banks and Candice Swanepoel are returning for the reboot.
Cher follows in the footsteps of stars including Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran, Lady Gaga and Selena Gomez in performing at the event.
