The woman attacked by Chris Brown’s dog is taking steps to ensure she gets paid her compensation.
The R&B singer’s former housekeeper, Maria Avila, is owed nearly $13 million (£9.8 million) for the vicious dog attack at his home.
She is seeking to gain access to the money he’s making from his current tour with Usher, TMZ reports.
In court documents obtained by the outlet, Avila said Brown has so far “made no effort to satisfy any portion of the judgment”. She wants the court to give her full access to his financial records so she can seize what she’s owed.
Avila’s lawyers point out that Brown is currently on tour with Usher for The R&B Tour, and that their client wants all payments for the tour, and any other entertainment-related projects or residuals directed to her, because he does not appear willing to work with them to get the judgment paid off.
They are also asking that Brown be ordered to appear in court for an examination of his finances.
A California jury ruled in Avila’s favour over the incident that took place in December 2020. Avila gave emotional testimony at the two-week trial, breaking down on the witness stand as she described the mauling at Brown’s home in the Tarzana neighbourhood of Los Angeles.
She said the attack left her with severe injuries to her arm and face, extensive scarring, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
“I will never be the same again,” she told jurors at the time.
