“I want you to experience the best show possible, and I’m not in a place to do that right now,” the musician confirmed
Clairo has pulled the plug on three performances in Toronto. The musician, Claire Cottrill, was scheduled to play a run of shows at Massey Hall beginning Oct. 23. She announced on X, formerly Twitter, that the concerts have been postponed due to “extreme exhaustion.”
“I know this is disappointing to everyone who bought tickets to see me play but I’m struggling with extreme exhaustion and have been advised to go home until our Boston shows,” Cottrill wrote. “I want you to experience the best show possible, and I’m not in a place to do that right now.”
She noted that she will share updates regarding refunds and rescheduled dates when they are available. “I appreciate your understanding,” she added. “I will make it up to you!”
A fan commented on the posting questioning Cottrill’s decision, writing, “It’s funny because you’re posting this the night of your 1st concert in toronto when people are already lining up. then, you’re continuing in boston which is RIGHT AFTER toronto? make it make sense?”
“The most I can say is I’m sorry and I’m trying to figure out everything & refunds etc in real time – I’m trying to survive,” the musician responded. “i know it’s not what you want to hear .. tour can bring people to a point of no return i am returning in boston as to not cancel more shows.”
Clairo is scheduled to continue her Charm tour in Boston on Oct. 28 and 29 at Roadrunner. Next month, she will perform in Nashville, Philadelphia, Charlotte, and Atlanta. Clairo is also scheduled to perform at the Corona Capital festival in Mexico City.
The musician has been on the road in support of her recent LP, Charm. After a show in Portland earlier this month, Cottrill took to social media to encourage her male fans to be more respectful. “Portland was fun!” she wrote. “Can the guys at my shows stop yelling at me.” She added, “To be clear, it’s fine that men enjoy my music. u don’t have to be embarrassed that u like my music. but when u come to my shows at least be respectful of me and other people in the audience! thank you.”
