A new leg of Coldplay‘s ongoing Music of the Spheres world tour will reach the North American part of the sphere called Earth next summer. The group, which last week put out an album that paid tribute to another sphere, Moon Music, will play a handful of stadiums around the United States and two dates in Toronto.
Tickets go on sale to the general public at noon local time on Friday. Various presales will begin at 9 a.m. that day for people who sign up early. Full details are on Ticketmaster’s Coldplay hub.
The group is also offering admission to their shows for $20 via what they’re calling “Infinity Tickets.” Those go on sale at noon local time on Nov. 22.
Coldplay kicked off the Music of the Spheres tour in 2022, following the 2021 release of their Music of the Spheres album. They had subtitled that record, Vol. I: From Earth with Love. The new album, Moon Music, is officially titled Music of the Spheres Vol. II: Moon Music, explaining the continuation of the tour’s title. (There are plenty of spheres in the universe, so they may keep this going for a while.)
A better sobriquet for the tour, however, could have been “Music for This Sphere”: The band reports that the way they’ve toured has left less of a carbon footprint than on previous tours. Comparing show for show, they report that this trek has produced 59 percent less CO2e emissions than their 2016 and 2017 run. They also claim responsibility for planting more than 9 million trees around the globe. They detail their sustainability efforts on their website. (Physical copies of the Moon Music album are also made from recycled plastic bottles.)
Frontman Chris Martin recently told Rolling Stone that after Moon Music’s “All My Love” — which the group performed on SNL— the band doesn’t intend to release any further singles. “I’m so grateful for this song,” he said. “I don’t know if and when it will connect with who or not, but for me, it’s a really important song. It’s like, after everything we’ve been through, you have all my love. That’s it. That’s how we feel about life and the world and our fans and our critics and everybody.”
