A month after returning with a Yōsui Inoue cover and news of a new label deal, Cornelius has announced his Eat Your Own Ears debut, Refractions. The Japanese composer and songwriter recruited guests including his Bad Advice/Mind Train collaborator Arto Lindsay, former Yura Yura Teikoku guitarist Shintaro Sakamoto, Bid from the British punk band the Monochrome Set, and Sean Ono Lennon. Listen to the Lennon-featured “Aeons” below and scroll down to see Cornelius’ tour dates in Japan and London. The album arrives on August 19.
Ono Lennon has history with Cornelius, having invited him to join an iteration of his mother’s Plastic Ono Band in years past. Cornelius said of the new collaboration, “As the world and my surroundings changed at an intense speed, I think all of that inevitably shaped this work. Rather than expressing these ideas directly, I approached them structurally—exploring continuity, transformation, and multiple coexisting states within a single, uninterrupted flow of time.”
Ono Lennon added, “I’m always honoured to work with Keigo, he’s one of my favourite humans on the Earth Planet!”
