Dashboard Confessional drummer Chris Kamrada has announced he’s leaving the band after almost a decade.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Kamrada reflected on the end of his time with the legendary emo group – which he joined in 2017 – saying the decision closes a meaningful chapter in his two-decade career.

He thanked Chris Carrabba, the rest of the band, their crew and the people who supported them on the road, adding that the years spent touring and making music together will stay with him.

Writing his statement, the star penned: “After an incredible run together, Dashboard Confessional and I are parting ways.

“I’m incredibly grateful for the eight years spent travelling the world, playing and creating music together, and contributing to moments that I believe fans will never forget. “After 20 years of doing this professionally, this chapter of a musician’s career will forever be bittersweet. “With that said, I simply want to say thank you to Chris, everyone in the band, family and close friends in our circle, our touring crew, and everyone involved behind the scenes.”

He ended his note by telling fans he hopes to see them again in the future.

The sticksman added: “I’ll see you out there.”

Dashboard Confessional formed in 1999 and have cycled through several line-ups over the years, though Carrabba has remained the band’s core since the beginning. The group found major success in the 2000s, with two albums reaching Number Two on the US Billboard 200.

Before joining Dashboard Confessional, Kamrada spent more than a decade drumming for There For Tomorrow.
