Deftones sponsor their local youth football team – check out the beautiful new shirt and kit

Deftones have sponsored their local youth football team, and launched a limited-edition line of new shirts. Find all the details below.

The US metal band teamed up with GOAL Projects to sponsor the grassroots club Los Jaguares, based in their hometown of Sacramento, California.

“We designed some custom jerseys and a soccer ball that will become part of the kids’ official kits in the new year,” Deftones wrote to announce the partnership.

“Sales of the collection support Los Jaguares, a team of boys and girls ages 11-14 from Oak Park – the same neighbourhood that shaped us. Every order helps keep soccer free for the kids and supports programs that help them on and off the field.”

Fans can get their hands on a black Deftones soccer jersey, featuring Deftones’ band logo on the front. The back of the shirt has “Sacto” as the name, above the number “10”.

There is also a long-sleeved green Deftones football jersey, with a different version of the group’s logo on the front.

“Your purchase helps guarantee soccer remains free for every player, while providing vital access to fields, quality coaching, and healthy snacks,” the listings read.

Both shirts are priced at £69.00. They are expected to ship within three to four weeks of purchase (black jersey), and two to four weeks of purchase (green). The limited edition Deftones soccer ball costs £39.00, but is currently sold out.

“When we heard about this group of kids growing up in our hometown in need of support, we jumped at the opportunity,” Deftones said in a statement.

“Soccer and music are both about connection and expression, and having a strong community that nourishes this during developmental years is so important.”

They added: “We’re stoked to be able to give back and make a positive change in their lives, and our hope is to encourage them to continue pursuing their dreams despite any odds.”

GOAL Projects has also partnered with OutKast, Anderson .Paak, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard and more.

Elsewhere, the likes of Oasis, Ed Sheeran, Iron Maiden, Kneecap, Fontaines D.C. and Hard-Fi have teamed up with football clubs to launch new shirts recently.

Deftones released their 10th and latest studio album, ‘Private Music’, this summer. In a glowing five-star review, NME said that the project “once again finds the band as masters of beauty and brutality rolling over the horizon in one stunning but powerful storm”.

‘Private Music’ landed at Number 21 on NME‘s 50 best albums of 2025 list, with the single ‘Milk Of The Madonna’ coming in at Number 30 on our 50 best songs of the year rundown.

Last month saw Deftones announce new shows in Dublin and Edinburgh as part of their 2026 UK and European headline tour.

In August, they’ll deliver a bill-topping performance at All Points East presents Outbreak Fest 2026 at London’s Victoria Park. Support will come from IDLES, Amyl & The Sniffers and more.

The group are scheduled to hit the road in New Zealand and Australia with Interpol next May. In the autumn, the band will perform at the inaugural Texas edition of US festival Sick New World.

Meanwhile, frontman Chino Moreno recently looked back on Deftones’ 1997 second album, ‘Around The Fur’, saying it is possibly his “favourite record” of theirs. “That record definitely stood the test of time,” he explained.

Speaking to NME this summer, Moreno said Deftones’ music had always been vulnerable, pointing back to ‘Mascara’ on ‘Around The Fur’ as proof. He also admitted that his confidence to lay himself out in a love song had grown.
