Dolly Parton recorded a special video message welcoming fans to her museum before she died in August.
The Jolene singer, who died on 25 August after a brief battle with cancer, pre-recorded a message for the grand opening of her new Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville, Tennessee on Tuesday.
“Hi everybody, it’s Dolly, and I am so proud to invite you to my Life of Many Colors Museum opening right here in the heart of Nashville at my SongTeller Hotel,” Parton said in the video posted on the museum’s Instagram page.
“This museum will be the largest exhibit of my life and career, filled with the stories, songs, and memories that I’ve carried,” continued the star, who rocked a gold outfit and her usual glamorous look. “It includes all of the things that have helped this little girl’s dreams come true, and I can’t wait to share it with you.”
As Dolly delivers her message, the camera slowly zooms out to show her video playing on a television, among other retro TVs showing clips of her old performances.
The Life of Many Colors Museum, located inside the country music legend’s SongTeller Hotel, features costumes, records and tales from her life and career. Both the museum and the hotel opened on Tuesday.
Dolly worked right until she died at the age of 80. In addition to recording the welcome message, she pre-recorded another video speech to posthumously accept the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Americana Music Awards earlier this month.
Over the weekend, the 9 to 5 hitmaker was honoured with a musical tribute at the MTV Video Music Awards. Kacey Musgraves performed a rendition of her 1973 song, I Will Always Love You.
