Donald Trump has declared that he is “not a Taylor Swift fan” after her endorsement of his rival Kamala Harris.
The former U.S. President has spoken out hours after the music megastar broke her political silence and endorsed Harris following Tuesday’s presidential debate.
In an interview with Fox & Friends on Wednesday, Trump warned that Swift would “pay a price” for her endorsement.
“I was not a Taylor Swift fan,” he said. “It was just a question of time. She couldn’t possibly endorse (Joe) Biden… But she’s a very liberal person. She seems to always endorse a Democrat, and she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace.”
Swift took to Instagram shortly after the heated debate to officially back Harris ahead of November’s presidential election.
The Lavender Haze singer began by encouraging her 283 million followers to do their research before casting their vote later this year.
“I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election,” she continued. “I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos.”
Swift also responded to Trump’s recent claims that she had endorsed him when he posted several AI-generated images, including one of the hitmaker dressed as Uncle Sam with the text, “Taylor wants you to vote for Donald Trump.”
She wrote, “Recently I was made aware that AI of ‘me’ falsely endorsing Donald Trump’s presidential run was posted to his site. It really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation.”
Swift’s post came days after she was slammed by fans for hugging alleged Trump supporter Brittany Mahomes, who she met through her boyfriend Travis Kelce, at the US Open.
During his interview, Trump claimed Mahomes, the wife of Travis’s teammate Patrick Mahomes, was “a big Trump fan” and he liked her “much better” than the pop singer.
