Drake has called out his fake friends on his surprise new song ‘What Did I Miss?’. Check it out below.

The rapper released the track on Friday (July 4), as part of a live stream dubbed Iceman Episode One, where he drove around Toronto in a van for a company called The Iceman — an ice delivery service in the city.

It comes after Drake confirmed that he is working on a new solo album back in April, which he said is “a slap”. While little else has been revealed about the album – including its release date – it will mark the rapper’s first solo record since 2023’s ‘For All The Dogs’.

‘What Did I Miss?’ seems to address fake friends following his highly publicised feud with Kendrick Lamar last year. “Last time I looked to my right, you n****s was standing beside me / How can some people I love hang around pussies who try me?” he asks on the track.

Last spring, the two rappers went back and forth in a historic rap feud. Across various diss tracks, the duo sent scathing shots at one another. The most successful song from the battle was Lamar’s fourth Number One single, ‘Not Like Us’, which smashed numerous streaming records and went on to win five Grammys for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Song, and Best Music Video.

While the track doesn’t mention Lamar any friends friends specifically, he does seem to mention Lamar’s Juneteenth 2024 Pop Out concert in Los Angeles, where he performed ‘Not Like Us’ five times.

“I’m back in your city tonight, walkin’ around with my head high,” Drake raps. “I saw bro at the Pop Out with them but been dick riding gang since ‘Headlines.’” Check it out below.

Back in November, the ‘Hotline Bling’ hitmaker filed a dispute against Universal Music Group in New York, alleging that the publisher and label had “artificially inflated” streams for Kendrick Lamar’s diss track ‘Not Like Us’, among other allegations.

UMG then filed a motion to dismiss the Canadian rapper’s suit, stating that he had sued the corporation because he “lost a rap battle”. They went on to say that “instead of accepting the loss like the unbothered rap artist he often claims to be”, Drake had “sued his own record label in a misguided attempt to salve his wounds”.

In other news, Drake was recently announced as this year’s Wireless Festival headliner, which will see him take over the prime spot at all three nights of the annual London music bash. The event will return to London’s Finsbury Park from July 11 to 13 and to mark the occasion, Drake will become the first artist to headline a festival for three nights with three different setlists.

The shows will be the rapper’s first UK performances in six years, and he will be joined across the weekend by artists including Burna Boy, PartyNextDoor, Summer Walker and Vybz Kartel. Tickets for the event are on sale here.

Elsewhere, earlier this month, he announced tour dates for the UK and Europe with PARTYNEXTDOOR to celebrate the release of their collaborative album ‘$ome $exy $ongs 4 U’, which was shared on Valentine’s Day via OVO Sound.

Drake also recently revealed how much money he’s lost on gambling bets in June alone.
