Drake makes official chart history with three simultaneous Top 10 albums

Canadian superstar Drake has secured his place in the music history books today, becoming the first artist ever to debut three studio albums inside the UK Top 10 simultaneously. The unprecedented achievement cements his status as a dominant global force in modern music.

Leading the historic trifecta is his latest record ICEMAN, which soared straight into the Number 1 spot to earn Drake his seventh UK chart-topping album. Meanwhile, his other two simultaneous studio releases also found major success, with MAID OF HONOUR landing comfortably at Number 6, and HABIBTI completing the spectacular trio at Number 7. With this remarkable sweep, Drake’s overall career tally of UK Top 10 albums now stands at an impressive 17.

The feat marks the first time in 33 years that an act has occupied three Top 10 album spots at the same time. The last artist to achieve a similar milestone was Prince in 1993, though his achievement differed as it consisted of three compilation records—The Hits / The B-Sides, The Hits 1, and The Hits 2—rather than entirely new studio material.

Elsewhere on the Official Albums Chart, the legacy of Michael Jackson continues to experience a massive commercial resurgence. Driven by the immense popularity of the current Michael cinematic biopic, the King of Pop has claimed four separate positions in this week’s Top 40: The Essential Michael Jackson at Number 2, Thriller at Number 4, Bad at Number 8, and Off The Wall at Number 37.

Celebrations are also in order for rising talent Freya Skye, who has earned her first-ever entry on the Official Albums Chart with stardust at Number 35. The release proved particularly popular with physical music collectors, simultaneously topping the Official Vinyl Albums Chart as the week’s best-selling record on wax. Additionally, London-formed five-piece rock band The Karma Effect secured their second Top 40 album, with Cruel Intentions entering the charts at Number 39.
