Drake’s ‘Iceman’ Holds at No. 1 for a Fourth Week on the Billboard 200

Drake’s ‘Iceman’ Holds at No. 1 for a Fourth Week on the Billboard 200

Iceman earns 133,000 equivalent album units and extends Drake’s latest chart run, remaining atop Billboard’s Top Streaming Albums chart as well.

Despite Summer just starting, Drake‘s “Freeze the World” mantra appears to be holding strong. The chest-pumping Iceman, the first in a triptych of releases from Drake last month, is again on top of the album charts, marking the album’s fourth consecutive week at No. 1, with 133,000 equivalent album units in the latest tracking week.

Iceman also now joins Kendrick Lamar’s GNX as the only rap album in Billboard’s history to have every one of its songs Chart on the Hot 100 for three consecutive weeks.

This continues Drake’s Herculean comeback, which started when he dropped his three-album barrage in May. Iceman, Habibti and Maid of Honour debuted in the top three spots on the Billboard 200 in their opening week, making Drake the first artist to occupy the chart’s entire top three simultaneously. Iceman also marked Drake’s 15th chart-topping album, passing Jay-Z for the most by any rap artist.

Trending Stories

More than just its chart performance, though, Iceman has produced a number of standout singles in “Janice STFU” and “Shabang” as well as fueled weeks of online discussion among fans. From his not-so-subtle jabs at A$AP Rocky to the bars directed at Jay-Z that seemingly garnered a response from the usually tight-lipped rap mogul, the album’s continued success suggests that interest in Drake’s post-beef era remains high, even as the broader conversation around his rivalry with Kendrick Lamar continues to linger.

Iceman of course, arrives as Drake’s first full-length solo project since his feud with Kendrick Lamar, which many believed derailed Drake’s popularity. With the chart success of Iceman, Drake has seemingly proven himself to still be a reliable hitmaker, capable of capturing audiences’ attention and holding onto it for the long run.
