Drowning Pool cancel tour due to ‘low ticket sales’ but band blame ‘logistics’

Drowning Pool have blamed their cancelled tour on “logistics” but promoters are claiming it’s down to “low ticket sales”.

The nu metal band, best known for 2001 hit single Bodies, were due to start their first ever tour of South America today (20.05.26) with a show in Bogota Colombia, but with one day to go they officially pulled the plug on the gigs.

In a statement translated from Spanish, tour organisers said: “The decision was made jointly by all local promoters involved due to low ticket sales recorded in all cities on the tour.

“Customers who have already purchased tickets must request a refund directly from the company responsible for ticket sales in their respective city.

“For more information and specific guidance regarding the refund process, please contact the local promoter.

“We appreciate your understanding.”

The band themselves, made up of singer Ryan McCombs, guitarist C.J. Pierce, drummer Mike Luce and bassist Stevie Benton, had recently claimed the dates were “put on hold” due to logistical difficulties.

Pierce had told the Teaser Talk podcast that “all the logistics weren’t put together for us to get there in time”.

He said: “There’s a lot of, you know, again, red tape and stuff like that because we didn’t meet the deadline for it.

“So, I’m hoping to go back. Love South America. We really want to play there. I want to go so bad. But yeah, that’s going to be it.”

McCombs insisted the band would “definitely” be trying to make the tour happen in the future.

He added: “It’s very rare that you see something come up on your calendar that you haven’t done before.

“And that’s there was several countries there that we had never – I know I’d never been to before.

“So I was really looking forward to that. So we’re definitely pushing towards that.”

The tour was originally set to start on May 20 in Bogota, Colombia, and end on May with a gig in Coritiba, Brazil.

Meanwhile, Drowning Pool are set to reissue their debut album Sinner next month for the LP’s 25th anniversary, and they will still be hitting the stage at Download Festival next month.

They will hit the Opus Stage on June 13, the second day of the iconic rock festival.

Limp Bizkit, Guns N’ Roses and Linkin Park will headline the event, which will also feature sets from the likes of Cypress Hill, Bad Omens, The Pretty Reckless, A Day To Remember, The All American Rejects, A Day To Remember, Halestorm and Architects.
