Echo and The Bunnymen reschedule Philadelphia show after frontman Ian McCulloch involved in road incident

Echo and The Bunnymen were forced to postpone a show just hours before stage time after frontman Ian McCulloch was involved in a road traffic incident.

The Liverpool band had been scheduled to perform at The Fillmore Philadelphia on June 7, but the 67-year-old singer was left “shaken” and required medical treatment. His injuries are not believed to be serious, though the sudden setback meant the concert could not go ahead as planned.

A social media statement read: “While travelling from Washington, D.C. to Philadelphia, Ian McCulloch’s vehicle was involved in a road traffic incident. As a result, Ian required medical treatment.

Thankfully, the injuries sustained are not believed to be serious; however, as you can appreciate, he has been left understandably shaken by the incident. As a precautionary measure, Ian is undergoing further medical assessment, including scans and X-rays.

After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to postpone tonight’s performance in Philadelphia.

Postponing a show is always a last resort. We never want to disappoint our fans, and we know many of you will have made plans to attend this evening’s concert.

We kindly ask ticket holders to retain their tickets while we work through the next steps. A further update regarding the show will be provided as soon as possible.

We sincerely apologise for the disappointment and inconvenience caused, and thank you for your understanding and support.”

The show has been rescheduled for tonight (09.06.26). Original tickets will still be valid, and fans who can’t make the new date will be able to claim a refund from their point of purchase.
