Ed Sheeran has revealed his plans to take a break from music after his current tour.
The news came during the Glendale, Arizona stop on his Loop Tour.
“I might take some time off once this tour has ended,” Sheeran shared in a fan video posted to social media, “and do the dad thing.”
The father of two, who shares Lyra, five, and Jupiter, four, with wife Cherry Seaborn, has previously shared the impact of touring life on his family through his songs.
“You’re too young to understand that Daddy’s coming home,” he sings in Regrets, from his most recent album Play. “Every time I leave the house, you think I’m forever gone.”
The Bad Habits singer worked to find a good work-life balance during his three-year-long Mathematics Tour, which began in April 2022 and ended in September 2025, relocating his family to the United States temporarily so that his kids could be closer to him while he was performing across the country.
He detailed his desire to have his family close, telling the YouTube series Last Meals in October that he believes “my life only works when we’re together”.
“I really enjoy my career,” he continued. “I love touring, I love songwriting. Touring has gotten to a point now, because of where my career’s at, that it can fit around my family and I can dictate what I do.”
The Loop tour is the sixth concert tour by English singer-songwriter. It began on 16 January 2026 in Auckland, New Zealand and is set to conclude in Mexico City, Mexico, on 12 December 2026.
