Fabric has announced that it has signed a four-year partnership with St Paul’s Cathedral to host live music events – however the move has already faced some backlash.
The club announced last week that it had signed a new deal with the historic cathedral, which would see it become the “exclusive partner for contemporary music events from 2026 through to 2030”.
It cited how the collaborations with the venue started back in 2024 when it hosted a performance from RY X at the space – the first time it had brought live music into one of London’s most iconic buildings.
It later returned in 2025 to host an intimate performance from Patti Smith.
“Both events showed us what can happen when contemporary music is placed within a space with such a deep sense of history, architecture and atmosphere,” Fabric shared. “This new partnership gives us the opportunity to explore that relationship over a much longer period.”
Now, with the new four-year partnership, Fabric will create a number of live shows from a “broad range of artists from across the contemporary music landscape”. Each show will be especially designed to fit with the venue, and the “acoustics, architecture and unique atmosphere will form an important part of every performance”.

“Fabric has always been about bringing people together through music and creating experiences that stay with people,” said Fabric co-founder Cameron Leslie.
“The opportunity to do that at St Paul’s Cathedral over the next four years is incredibly exciting for us. It’s an extraordinary and unexpected coming together of two very different parts of London, and we’re looking forward to building on the success of the events we’ve already held and creating something genuinely special and befitting of this incredible space.”
Already, there has been a mixed response to the new partnership, and a relative of Vice-Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson has criticised it, describing it as an “insult” to the memory of the British navy commander.
“This extends far beyond Nelson,” Peregrine Hood – president of the Nelson Society and descendant of Nelson’s brother – told The Telegraph. “St Paul’s is one of the great sacred spaces of Christianity and a place of enormous significance to our national life and history.”
He continued: “Nelson came from a family steeped in the Church, and perhaps it is this misuse of a holy site that would have caused him even greater unease than the prospect of dancing on his grave.”
Hood continued: “Is nothing sacred any more? What a sad reflection on where spiritual integrity and Christianity are today. St Paul’s Cathedral positioning itself in this way is deeply depressing.”
