Fans Are ‘Crying’ Over the Fact That Hannah Montana Would Have Hated the New Show-Themed Starbucks Drink: ‘Out of Every Flavor in the World…’

Nobody’s perfect? Starbucks just rolled out a new Hannah Montana drink in honor of the show’s 20th anniversary, featuring raspberry flavoring — something Miley Cyrus‘ iconic character would have hated.

On Monday (March 23), the coffee chain unveiled its “Hannah’s Secret Popstar Refresher,” which is now available on the Starbucks app’s “secret menu.” With a strawberry açaí base, the beverage is topped with both raspberry cold foam and raspberry syrup.

But while to many people, that combo sounds fruity and refreshing, it would have made Miley Stewart — the fictional Disney Channel teen living a double life as pop star Hannah Montana — want to hurl. That’s no understatement. In season 1 of Hannah Montana, the character finds herself in a sticky situation when she becomes the face of a raspberry-scented perfume that she can’t stomach the smell of, thanks to a traumatic gastrointestinal moment that followed a raspberry-pie-eating contest in her childhood.

Fans were quick to point out this fact online, with one person writing on X, “RASPBERRY COLD FOAM?!? did @Starbucks forget this important arc in Hannah Montana?!?”

“I’m crying out of every flavor in the world, Starbucks chose the one where there’s an entire episode based around the fact that Miley/Hannah hates it,” posted another fan, while one person commented on the company’s Instagram announcement for the drink, “Hannah herself would hate this flavor lol.”

Others, however, wondered whether the raspberry flavoring was an intentional reference to Hannah’s backstory — something Starbucks seemingly confirmed on Instagram. “For the fans who remember the raspberry saga, this one’s for you,” the brand wrote, while Disney Channel’s official account commented, “the raspberry lore lives on!”

Billboard has reached out to Starbucks for comment.

The secret Hannah refresher comes one day ahead of the premiere of the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special on Disney+. It’ll feature Cyrus reprising the role that made her a global superstar and earned her 20 Billboard Hot 100 hits under the alias, singing songs from the show and revisiting the Hannah Montana set.

“It’s not just a TV show,” the singer reflected in a recent Variety article ahead of the special. “I see daily how important Hannah is to people. When I travel, people bring me ‘Hannah’ merch. They ask, ‘Are you ever going to do another season?’”
