Fans react to Glastonbury 2027 ticket prices

Fans are reacting to the ticket prices for Glastonbury 2027 – with some calling it “insane” and “not fair”, and some being insistent that it is a “bargain”.

The organisers of the Worthy Farm festival announced last night (Tuesday, September 8) that it would be back in full swing from Wednesday, June 23 to Sunday, June 27 next year.

They also confirmed that coach and ticket packages would go on sale at 6pm BST on Thursday October 1, followed by standard tickets at 9am BST on Sunday, October 4.

For the first time in Glastonbury’s history, tickets have surpassed the £400 mark for each ticket – with general admission tickets costing £408 each, including a £5 booking fee.

This is an increase from the previous years, with the 2025 edition costing £378.50 per ticket, and noticeably higher than tickets were 10 years ago. According to reports from BBC News, data analysis showed that ticket prices have steadily risen from £286 in 2010 up to £374.

The sharpest increase came following the pandemic, with tickets going up from £318 in 2019 to £374 in 2025.

This increase in cost is due to things including increased energy and infrastructure costs to post-Brexit complications with equipment transportation, labour shortages, and visa issues. Before the pandemic, Emily Eavis revealed that the festival cost roughly £40million to hold, and they would have to sell out of all tickets just to break even (via The Independent).

Already, the confirmation of 2027 ticket prices has divided some people online, with some upset by the cost, and others sharing how it is actually a “bargain” when you compare it to the ticket prices for concerts.

It’s £80-£100 for a big venue gig now . I think £408 is fair for five days of massive acts

“It’s £80-£100 for a big venue gig now. I think £408 is fair for five days of massive acts,” one person wrote on X, while another agreed: “£400 Wednesday to Monday absolutely thousands of things on for the best weekend of your life. Bargain”.

“£400 for the whole 5 days and the acts you can see and everything else that’s in the fields is an absolute bargain,” a third agreed, while someone else chimed in: “It has gone up a lot, but the price of individual gigs has rocketed too. £30+ for Academy shows, £60+ for Apollo sized, £80+ for arenas, stadium shows are insane. Obviously I’d rather it was a lot less, but for what you get, I think it’s still value for money.”

Others, however, were less open to the price rises, with one person writing: “The last time I went was 2009. It was £165. It felt affordable, worth every penny. With inflation, sure, it should be £300 now. I get it, it’s a charity event. But £400?? That doesn’t feel right or fair.”

Someone else shared: “Oasis better be playing for that ticket price”, while others branded the high costs “insane” and “simply not fair”. Find more reactions below.

Issues regarding energy costs, infrastructure and the post-Brexit landscape have affected other festival costs too, and the BBC News data revealed that Parklife tickets went up by 71 per cent since 2013, and Reading & Leeds prices going up by around 14 per cent over that same period.

While ticket prices have gone up across the board, Glastonbury is still at the top end of the scale – particularly given the big names on the bill, the longer running time, and the legacy of the festival.

For Reading & Leeds, 2025 tickets ranged between £325 and £361 for the full three-day run. At Primavera Sound, tickets on average range between £245 and £350.

Early bookies’ favourites for the Pyramid Stage next summer include the likes of Sam Fender, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Rihanna and Little Simz. Other rumoured names for topping the bill include Harry Styles, Radiohead, Fontaines D.C., Muse and The Rolling Stones. The latter comes following Mick Jagger and Keith Richards both suggesting that the band could return to touring in 2027. They headlined Glastonbury for the only time in 2013.

Last month, organiser Emily Eavis ruled out another heavily rumoured headliner Madonna, who had been strongly rumoured to be performing after the release of her new album ‘Confessions II‘. Liam Gallagher also recently appeared to rule out any chance of Oasis headlining Worthy Farm next year despite them being the bookies favourites to top the bill at 4/1.

Last year’s instalment of the Worthy Farm festival saw The 1975, Neil Young and Olivia Rodrigo headline the iconic Pyramid Stage. Other performances came from the likes of Charli XCX, Wolf Alice, Rod Stewart, Doechii and Kneecap.
