Fat Dog paint a picture of “two fucking insane people who argue constantly” on manic new single ‘Shit Love’

Fat Dog have unveiled their new single ‘Shit Love’, the third release from the forthcoming album ‘Cancel Me (I’m Tired)’.

The fast-paced, synth-led trackiss introduced by frontman Joe Love as being about “two fucking insane people who argue constantly and they are world-enders every time”. You can listen to the track here, and watch the visualiser for the song below.

The follow-up to 2024 debut ‘WOOF’, ‘Cancel Me (I’m Tired)’ has been described in a press release as “an exhilarating, swaggering, panoramic, inventive, re-inventive, re-re-inventive electro-punk-art-pop-rock’n’roll-space-country triumph that deserves all the adjectives. Over ten mind-bending and melodic tracks, it blends electro-pop anthems, cascading rave bangers, bombastic strings, cowboy-tinged pit-stops and swirling psychedelia.”

The album is released on October 2, and can be pre-ordered or saved here. An exclusive picture disc vinyl can be purchased here. The song follows previous singles ‘Go Fuck Urself’ and the album’s title track.

The NME cover stars are currently in the middle of playing a host of festival and support slots this summer, before kicking off a UK & European headline tour in October.

‘WOOF’ was given a glowing five-star review from NME and described as “unserious, unhinged and sensational”.

“It’s clear from the get-go that this is not a band who take themselves seriously – you needn’t look further than drummer Johnny ‘Doghead’ Hutchinson’s ever-present latex dog mask,” the review read. “But crucially, they’ve committed to the bit, and it makes the intricate and occasionally miserable post-punk that’s inundated the UK recently seem like a bore in comparison.”

Before their highly anticipated debut album dropped, Fat Dog spoke to NME for The Cover, where keyboardist Chris Hughes reflected on the huge response they get live and explained what makes them stand out.

“What we’ve got as a band is special. I hear things from my friends who are in other groups, and there just seems to be constant animosity elsewhere,” he said.

“We get these moments where everything lines up: sometimes, we all look at each other on stage, and quietly recognise that we’re playing a really good gig. It’s an amazing feeling.”
