Finn Wolfhard announces new album ‘Fire From The Hip’ with charismatic single ‘I’ll Let You Finish’

Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard has announced his sophomore solo album ‘Fire From The Hip’ with the indie-fuelled lead single, ‘I’ll Let You Finish’.

The new record comes on the heels of the actor and musician dropping his debut solo album ‘Happy Birthday’ last year, and later heading out on a US tour and playing a sold-out show at London’s Electric Brixton.

Set for release on July 10, ‘Fire From The Hip’ will mark a new musical chapter for Wolfhard as he pushes his indie-rock roots into broader, more dynamic avenues. Visit here to pre-order.

Today (Wednesday April 29), he has dropped the first taster of the album with the charismatic lead single ‘I’ll Let You Finish’.

The track opens with an indie-tinged guitar riff, before Wolfhard adds casual, charismatic vocals over the top and kicks things up a notch when the upbeat drum beat comes in.

“What do you do, are you right, my dear?/You got a bingo cap, did she cost a lot?” he sings in the verse, building up to the lively chorus: “You’ve got the money, honey/ I’ve got the time/ You wanna go dancing every night.”

The album was recorded this February and looks to explore themes of reflection, cultural memory, and humour.

It was inspired by pivotal rock from the ‘60s and ‘70s, including The Rolling Stones’ ‘Exile On Main Street’ (1972) and ‘Beggars Banquet’ (1968), and also seeks a stronger sense of nostalgia and collaboration than seen in his 2025 debut.

“I grew up in such an incredible time for pop culture, of course my music is influenced by these events I lived through,” Wolfhard explained. “I’ll never forget recording this album.”

“It was such a special experience being surrounded by some of my closest friends, whose support meant a lot to me,” he added. “They brought so many incredible ideas to the table and their creativity helped shape the record into what it is.”

The ‘Fire From The Hip’ tracklist is:

1. ‘I’ll Let You Finish’
2. ‘Common Side Effects’
3. ‘Lights Go Down’
4. ‘Follow’
5. ‘Tunnels’
6. ‘Trail’
7. ‘Crater’
8. ‘Oscilloscope’
9. ‘Maggie’
10. ‘Nice To Meet You Again’
11. ‘Good Morning’
12. ‘The Climb (Not That One)’

Before kicking off a solo career, Wolfhard fronted the band Calpurnia and was one-half of the indie-rock duo The Aubreys.

He spoke to NME about his love of music last year and revealed that it was his dream to record at Abbey Road Studios like his heroes, The Beatles –  adding that he had installed a studio in his house so he could record music every day.

“They’re the whole reason I got into music, and acting too, because with A Hard Day’s Night and Help!, that was like a switch in my head: ‘Oh, you can make music and be funny and be in movies’,” he told us.

He also talked about the “very emotional” experience of wrapping up Stranger Things, with the fifth and final season dropping at the end of 2025. “It was like saying goodbye to my childhood,” Wolfhard explained.

“It was heavy and intense, but the last day couldn’t have been better. Everybody was in a great place and everyone was on set, so it was a special moment when it finished.”

At the end of 2025, Wolfhard directed the first-ever music video for George Harrison‘s ‘Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth)’, and since then he has already landed an appearance on SNL and joined the line-ups for Lollapalooza and Osheaga festivals.
