Fire-Toolz will release a new album, Lavender Networks, on May 8, via her new label home at Warp. The announcement arrives with a new video from cestainsi.funfactory for the lead single, and, well, here is that song’s title: “Balam =^..^= Says IPv09082024 Strawberry Head.”
Guests on Lavender Networks include Zola Jesus, Brothertiger, Nailah Hunter, Lipsticism, and Angel Marcloid’s wife, Liverfire, and sister Sling Beam. A more off-piste guest, Americana singer Jennifer Holm, also features. (Says Marcloid in a press release, “Now imagine a Nashville mom who sings on country albums and in her church band, being asked by an interfaith transfeminine anarchist from Chicago to sing on her screamy, noisy electronic album.”) Check out the reliably colorful album art, courtesy of Meredith Guerrero, and wrap your head around the full tracklist below.
Fire-Toolz—whose recent production credits include No Joy’s Bugland—was previously signed to Hausu Mountain, which released her last full-length, Eternal Home, in 2021. Two EPs, I Will Not Use the Body’s Eyes Today and I Am Upset Because I See Something That Is Not There, followed in the successive years, and Marcloid self-released a more manageably titled album, Breeze, in 2024.
