Just days after Ariel Pink’s fridge hit the marketplace, Glenn Danzig put his own up for sale this week after leaving it outside his home.
The Danzig frontman left his personal refrigerator outside his property in Los Feliz, California this week, and left a listing for it on Craigslist, complete with a mysterious blurb that explains that the item is adorned with stickers relating to both Danzig and the singer’s previous band Misfits.
“It’s disgusting inside I opened it,” reads the description. “Some collector would love this. It’s funny but it is not a joke. Just go get this thing and throw it in your van or whatever. Get it before the city truck gets it!”
The fridge was reportedly snapped up by somebody the day after the post went online, although it is unclear whether a fan was able to get their hands on it or if it was removed by the authorities.
It comes less than a fortnight after another rock star fridge made headlines when Ariel Pink placed his on eBay for $420.69 (£316.44). The listing appeared to suggest that the refrigerator had passed into new hands before being put on sale and was only available for local pickup in Sun Valley, California.
Both Danzig and Pink have found themselves in political hot water in recent years. Danzig was criticised for using a Nazi-associated symbol in his band’s merchandise in March. The T-shirts and posters included an image that the Anti-Defamation League identified as “one of a number of ancient European symbols appropriated by the Nazis in their attempt to invent an idealised ‘Aryan/Norse’ heritage”.
In 2021, Danzig claimed that another “punk explosion” wouldn’t happen because of “cancel culture and woke bullshit”. He also recalled at the time how the group “would do things just to piss people off”.
“We’re lucky it happened when it did, because [a punk explosion will] never happen again” he said. “You won’t have any of those kinds of bands ever again. Everyone’s so uptight and PC, it’s just like, ‘OK, whatever’.”
As for Pink, he and musician John Maus attended a Donald Trump rally in Washington Dc in January 2021, which later descended into the storming of the US Capitol. He was later dropped by his label Mexican Summer and accused of physical and sexual abuse, which he denied.
He has since appeared on Tucker Carlson’s shows to complain about “cancel culture” and to promote a Christmas song that appeared to be about Hunter Biden.
