Flavor Flav has entered a bid to be the 2028 Olympic torchbearer in Los Angeles.
The rapper noted he was inspired by watching Snoop Dogg do the same in Paris at this year’s event and revealed he had already submitted the paperwork to follow in his friend’s footsteps for the Los Angeles Olympics in four years’ time.
“Guess what? I got a feeling I might be one of them,” he told the Politickin podcast, hosted by California’s Governor, Gavin Newsom.
“I put my bid in already. I said, ‘If Snoop can carry the torch in Paris – come on, man – Flav can carry that bad boy in LA!'”
Flavor, whose real name is William Jonathan Drayton, Jr, was quick to give Snoop credit for a job well done, while acknowledging the news of Snoop’s $500,000 (£379,000) daily rate had also factored into his decision to apply.
“Snoop did a fantastic job, man,” Flavor, 65, said. “He rocked. Even though they did pay him a half-a-million a day, Snoop got a nice payday out there, besides the payday, he did a good job and I know that man had a lot of fun out there. Mad big ups to you, Snoop.”
Flavor added he was keen to secure a custom Olympic pin just as Snoop had done.
“I want one of them pins too,” he said. “He got his own Olympic pin. I’m gonna try to get me one of them Olympic pins.”
