Freida Parton didn’t mean to “scare anyone” with her recent comments about Dolly Parton’s health.
On Tuesday, Freida posted a message via Facebook in which she shared that she had been “up all night praying” for her older sister as the country music icon “hasn’t been feeling her best lately”.
Frieda also asked fans around the world to pray for the 79-year-old too.
But after her statement hit headlines, with many people voicing concern for Dolly, Freida returned to the platform to assure followers that the Jolene hitmaker was O.K.
“I want to clear something up. I didn’t mean to scare anyone or make it sound so serious when asking for prayers for Dolly,” she wrote. “She’s been a little under the weather, and I simply asked for prayers because I believe so strongly in the power of prayer. It was nothing more than a little sister asking for prayers for her big sister.”
To conclude, Freida thanked Dolly’s fans for their ongoing support.
“Thank you all for lifting her up. Your love truly makes a difference,” the 68-year-old added.
Last month, Dolly announced that she would be postponing a string of concerts set to take place in Las Vegas in December as she had been facing some “health challenges”.
However, the legendary singer-songwriter maintained that she would return to the stage.
“Don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet,” she asserted. “But I believe He is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures in life.”
