Gary Barlow says he’s ‘fallen off a cliff’ after The Circus Live tour

Gary Barlow has opened up about the emotional crash he’s been dealing with since Take That’s The Circus Live tour came to an end – admitting he feels like he’s “fallen off a cliff” in the weeks following the final show.

The 55-year-old frontman shared a candid video with fans on Instagram, revealing he’s been struggling far more than usual with the familiar post-tour comedown. The revived run – which closed at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium on July 4 – clearly hit him harder than expected.

He said: “Hey everybody, GB here. I’ve been trying to make this video for a few weeks, and it’s not been easy.

“I must say that this tour has thrown me slightly. Whenever we come off tour, it always feels a little bit of an anti-climax… but for some reason, it just feels like I’ve completely fallen off a cliff since the end of the shows.”

Gary said he forced himself to finally record the message because he wanted to check in on fans who might also be feeling the post-tour slump. He admitted the emotional weight of touring seems to grow each year, especially as the shows become more meaningful to him.

He said: “I am always sad at the end of the tour and particularly this one.

“I just thought it was absolutely joyous, the whole thing, and I’m fully aware of how much everybody enjoyed it.”

His honesty follows his recent confirmation that The Circus won’t return for a third outing. Gary said the physically demanding production – complete with fire-breathers, stilt-walkers and a towering 30-foot mechanical elephant – is simply too much to take on at 55.

He told fans: “I got to run away with The Circus twice.

“Now I’m running towards our next exciting, brand-new show.”
