Gary Glitter pleads not guilty to historical sex offences

Gary Glitter pleaded not guilty to eight charges of historical sex offences on Wednesday.

The Rock and Roll singer, real name Paul Gadd, appeared at London’s Southwark Crown Court via video link from prison to deny the charges against him.

He pleaded not guilty to four charges of indecent assault, two counts of indecency with a child and two counts of sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 13.

According to BBC News, the 82-year-old said he was “absolutely not guilty” of two of the charges, and repeated “not guilty” to the remaining six.

Judge Tony Baumgartner scheduled the trial for 22 November 2027. It is expected to last three weeks.

All of the charges relate to one individual and incidents that allegedly took place at Gadd’s home in London’s Kensington neighbourhood between 12 March 1978 and 31 December 1981. The girl was aged between eight and 11 years old at the time.

Officials at the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) announced the charges against the former glam rock star in July.

The allegations were first reported to the Metropolitan Police in January 2025, and Gadd was first interviewed in relation to the subsequent investigation in July that year.

I’m the Leader of the Gang (I Am) singer, who rose to fame in the 1970s, ?was remanded in custody after the hearing.
