Appearing on the show, Neville revealed that he wants Oasis’s “The Masterplan” played at his funeral, despite joking about the band’s support for rivals Manchester City. Neville explained that he learned the acoustic guitar track in his youth and described it as one of his favorite songs, adding a lighthearted comment about mourners booing as the track plays.
Discussing his professional relationship with Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher, Neville admitted to despising him during his playing career. He explained that when Sky Sports producers approached him about adding Carragher to Monday Night Football, he fully supported the move. Neville highlighted that their shared trust, honesty, and willingness to exchange banter have allowed them to build a strong broadcast partnership across Sky Sports and The Overlap.
Neville also revealed his role in selecting Manchester United’s stadium walkout anthem, the Stone Roses track “This Is The One.” During his time as club captain in the early 2000s, Neville suggested replacing the team’s previous Rocky-style entrance music with John Squire’s opening guitar riff, a choice that continues to serve as the team’s walkout music at Old Trafford.
Turning to politics, Neville praised former Manchester mayor Andy Burnham for providing a prominent voice for the North of England. However, Neville explicitly ruled out running for mayor of Manchester himself. He explained that taking on political office would require him to step away from broadcasting and his involvement with Salford City FC, stating he would not give up his passion for football and family.
