Ghetts has pleaded guilty to killing a student in a hit-and-run accident.

The rapper and Netflix star was over the alcohol limit when his BMW collided with a pedestrian.

Ghetts, whose legal name is Justin Clarke-Samuel, struck Yubin Tamang, 20, with his car in Ilford, north-east London, on 18 October and failed to stop after the collision.

Tamang, an only child whose parents had sent him to the UK from Nepal to receive an education, was hurled “60 or 70 feet” into the air and died in hospital two days after the accident.

“The victim was seen on CCTV walking along Redbridge Lane East in the area. He looked both ways and started to cross the road, as he walked into the middle of the road,” prosecutor Varinder Hayre stated.

“The black BWW registered with the defendant was travelling eastbound and collided with the victim.

“The impact was so significant that it threw the victim up into the air at around 60 or 70 feet, and the contents of his bag had been thrown out.”

Clarke-Samuel, 41, was remanded in custody ahead of his sentencing and was told by the judge to expect a prison term.

The rapper and actor, who starred in Netflix drama Supacell, admitted he had been drinking cognac and cola shortly before the collision.

It was alleged he was over the prescribed limit as he drove with a returned blood-alcohol reading of 119 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath on October 18.
