Gracie Abrams feels “more like myself” ever since she cut her hair shorter.
In a conversation for Spotify published Tuesday, Olivia Rodrigo praised her fellow pop star’s new pixie cut, asserting that Gracie’s style has “never been cooler”.
Reflecting on switching her signature bob for a shorter look in January, the That’s So True singer explained that it was time for a change.
“I was certainly not thinking about anything visual,” she insisted. “Everything that comes outside of the writing is like extra to consider… I think more than anything I have found as I have continued to cut my hair off, I feel more like myself.”
In addition, Gracie revealed that she no longer feels connected to her prior “tour aesthetic” – having worn a lot of dresses and bows for performances.
“I don’t know that I’ll ever perform in a dress like ever,” the 26-year-old mused. “In this decade things change quick and you’re just finding out who you are in front of people. It’s interesting – and I have like no hair left to put a bow in. I have so much soft fondness for those times.”
Elsewhere in the chat, Olivia named Death Wish as her favourite song from Gracie’s upcoming third studio album, Daughter from Hell.
“I remember watching the video of you performing it at The O2 and being like, ‘Oh my God, that song is so, so beautiful,'” the Drop Dead hitmaker recalled. “Every lyric feels so poignant. It feels like there are no filler lyrics in it – it’s just perfect.”
Daughter from Hell, featuring lead single Hit the Wall, is set to drop on 17 July.
