The new headphones feature an impressive 70 hours of active noise-cancelling playtime and 100 hours without, making it possible to listen to music for longer without interruptions.
Armstrong, whose relationship with the amplification company includes the use of the JCM900 and Plexi 1959SLP amps within his career as well as the modified version of the Plexi 1959SLP – now known as the “Dookie Mod”, which helped define the sound of Green Day’s seminal debut LP, ‘Dookie’ – leads Marshall’s new campaign, which is aimed at finding harmony in the chaos and celebrating music as a uniting force.
The advert for the Marshall Monitor III A.N.C. wireless headphones sees Armstrong wearing the headphones while sipping from a mug with the band’s ‘Revolution Radio’ pink bunny on it before he begins to walk outside.
“The world well, it’s sort of chaos,” the legendary rocker says in a voiceover. “It’s easy to get lost in the midst of all of that. But things have a way of falling into place. But-hey? what do I know?” As he walks through the street, a flurry of rowdiness erupts with things exploding, people running and items crashing. Eagle-eyed fans will discover memorable Easter eggs sprinkled throughout the clip that are linked to Armstrong’s music career and the Marshall brand.
Speaking about the brand and the new headphones in a press release, the frontman shared: “If you know anything about me then you know that for me, the music never turns off. Whether it’s a stadium or a club, a pub or a subway, rock ’n’ roll is not just something I do, I live it… all the time.
“Marshall is and has been one of my loudest co-pilots along the way – from the stage and now, to the street. What better way to flip off the world than to put your headphones on so it’s just you, and the music.”
The Monitor III A.N.C. headphones are available to purchase at Marshall.com as well as select retailers at a price of £299 ($345).
In other news, it’s been speculated that Green Day could potentially be headlining Download Festival next year.
It comes after the band recently announced they will be playing at the Hurricane and Southside festivals in Germany between June 20 and June 22 alongside some huge names including Biffy Clyro, Yellowcard, Wet Leg and Amyl & The Sniffers.
Elsewhere, as part of Green Day’s ‘Saviors‘ tour this year, the group took in shows in Manchester, Glasgow and London, as well as a headline slot at the Isle of Wight Festival. Celebrating the 30th and 20th anniversaries of their classic albums ‘Dookie‘ and ‘American Idiot‘ respectively by playing both albums in full, the shows also showcased some of the songs from the band’s latest album ‘Saviors‘, released in January.
In a four-star review of the album, NME described it as “their best work since ‘American Idiot’,” and said: “The pop-punk icons’ 14th album finds them wiser, more subtle, but still up for a romp.”
Meanwhile, NME gave their show at Manchester’s Old Trafford Cricket Ground a glowing five-star review, and said, “Staying invigorated after three decades is no mean feat, but Green Day make it look effortless.”
