Hailee Steinfeld has revealed she currently has no plans to return to music.
The Sinners actress is best known for her roles in films such as Bumblebee and The Edge of Seventeen, but she has also enjoyed a successful parallel career as a pop singer.
After starring in the musical comedy Pitch Perfect 2 in 2015, Hailee released her debut EP Haiz, which achieved moderate commercial success and peaked at number 57 on the U.S. Billboard 200.
She went on to release her second EP, Half Written Story, in 2020. Her hit singles include Love Myself, At My Best and Starving.
Her most recent solo release came in 2023 with the track SunKissing, although she also featured on the soundtrack for her 2025 film Sinners.
Speaking during a recent Q&A for her Beau Society newsletter, Hailee was asked whether she plans to release new music in the future.
“While I have no plans to make music right at this exact moment, do I think about it? All the time,” she shared. “Music has always been a huge part of my life, and if it makes sense to get back in a studio, it’s an easy yes.”
However, the star admitted that the music industry no longer fulfils her in the way it once did.
“But the music industry has changed quite a bit over the last few years,” she stated. “I don’t feel as creatively fulfilled by music as much as I used to. I love the way Charli XCX writes about this.”
Charli has frequently addressed challenges within the music industry in her work. On her 2024 album Brat, the British hitmaker explored the pressures of industry expectations and the volatility of pop stardom.
