Halsey shares love for Nick Cave at Open’er Festival 2026

In partnership with Open’er Festival

Halsey shared her love for Nick Cave while performing on the second day of Open’er Festival earlier today (July 2).

Open’er Festival kicked off yesterday (July 1) with performances from The xx, David Byrne, Zara Larsson, Florence + The Machine, Kneecap and more. Earlier today, Halsey took to the festival’s main stage for a fiery set ahead of Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds and Calvin Harris.

After a rock remix of crossover hit ‘Colours’, Halsey told the crowd that they “didn’t know what to expect” from the Open’er audience, who then broke into a spontaneous chant of her name. “Oh my god. You guys are really blowing my mind right now. When I finish my set, I’m going to come down there and party with you,” she promised. “I want to see Nick Cave so bad.”

Elsewhere during their set, Halsey dedicated ‘Honey’ to all the lesbians in the crowd. “I love women,” she added.

Halsey wrapped up her 10-year anniversary tour for debut album ‘Badlands’ earlier this year and is currently on her ‘The Girl In The Tower’ festival run. “This euro summer run is gonna be historical for me. I’ve been waiting my entire life to become exactly who I am right now,” they explained on Twitter earlier this month.

Meanwhile Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds kickstarted their first run of UK and European shows since 2024 last month with a gig at Dublin’s Malahide Castle. The show saw the band play a variety of hits and deep cuts, alongside a cover of The Pogues’ Rainy Night In Soho’ which was dedicated to Shane McGowan and Fontaines D.C.’s manager Trevor Dietz, who passed away a few days before the concert.

In May, Cave revealed The Bad Seeds were “messing around” in the studio with the “vague idea of making a new record” as the follow-up to 2024’s ‘Wild God’. “This morning, I am going to Islington to mess around in the studio,” he told a fan on his Red Hand Files blog, saying that he would be in the studio with Bad Seeds members Martyn P. Casey, Thomas Wydler, Jim Sclavunos and Warren Ellis.

Check back at NME later for a full report of Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds’ Open’er gig.

The Polish festival runs until July 4 and will see performances from The Cure, JENNIE, Addison Rae, Ethel Cain and more. For more info, head here.
