Halsey shut down an outspoken audience member by insisting that she “almost died” to play her Boston show on Monday night.
The singer, who uses both she and they pronouns, took to the stage for her second night at Boston’s MGM Music Hall just hours after being rushed to the emergency room for a “minor medical emergency”.
While they were addressing the crowd, one male concertgoer shouted, “Stop talking and play”, which led Halsey to hit back with a strongly worded reply.
According to Rolling Stone, she told the heckler, “You think you’re tough s**t because you’re from Boston. I’m from Jersey, baby. I’ll whoop you’re a*s. My dad’s from Boston, my mom’s from Jersey – that basically makes me a f**king demon. I’m gonna play whatever the f**k I wanna play.”
The Without Me hitmaker continued to put the audience member in his place, as they fumed, “In case you didn’t hear me correctly, I almost f**king died to be on this stage. I’m going to play whatever the f**k I wanna play.”
After the concert on Monday evening, Halsey insisted she had no regrets about clapping back at the interruption.
They wrote on X, “I’ve been polite but won’t be caught dead letting a man tell me what I should play in my set. There’s always one.”
On Monday, Halsey took to social media to tell fans she had spent Sunday night in hospital after her first Boston show.
The 31-year-old singer, who is undergoing chemotherapy treatment after being diagnosed with Lupus SLE and a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder in 2022, didn’t reveal the reason for her hospitalisation but remained at the medical facility until 6am in the morning.
After their hospital discharge, Halsey insisted they were “A-Okay” and “ready to rock” their second Boston show.
