Harry Styles says the title of his new album Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally is his “life mantra” and the philosophy he lives by.

The 31-year-old singer opened up about the meaning behind the record’s title while appearing on the Hits Radio Breakfast Show with Fleur East, Will Best and James Barr, explaining that the album title is actually a good way to live.

Harry said: “It’s a life mantra! It’s unhealthy to disco all the time so loving and moving through your life with love and then taking a break every now and again to have some fun is a really good way to approach your life. And I feel like that’s what I did for the last couple of years and it led to positive changes in my life so…”

Harry also revealed the time he spent in Italy added with a smile: “You can probably stop [kissing] to eat and stuff – definitely an extended lunch break – and then right back to it… I spent a lot of time with Italians the last year or so and they’re kissing all the time so… it’s just art imitating life.”

The album Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally is Styles’ first studio release since 2022’s Harry’s House, which debuted at number one in the UK and US and went on to win three Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year.

With nearly four years having passed since his last album release, Harry admitted he was in no rush to return until the music felt completely right, and having that break helped him develop as an artist.

He said: “For me the making of the whole album was a really important time in my life. Taking a big step away from everything, I just learnt a lot about myself and the way that I wanted to work … I feel really excited about it, I’m excited to play it to people and that felt like a really good reason for the timing to be right for putting it out.”

Harry, 31, also revealed he decided to choose Aperture as the first single because it was the song that he kept on sharing with people when discussing his fourth solo LP.

The former One Direction member said: “As we were discovering things in the studio and things were happening I just started realising that when I would play it to people this is always the first song I would play. It became track one on the album because that’s what I wanted to set the tone with. It felt like this is what I want people to hear first to set the stage for it.”

The full interview is available now on the Rayo app at hitsradio.co.uk, with the complete conversation also set to appear on Hits Radio’s YouTube channel.
