Hear Anne Hathaway Sing a New FKA twigs Song for Mother Mary

Hear Anne Hathaway Sing a New FKA twigs Song for Mother Mary

Anne Hathaway plays a pop star in A24’s upcoming film Mother Mary and she’s got some stacked songwriters behind the tracks. One of those fictional hits is “My Mouth Is Lonely for You,” which was written by FKA twigs, one of her co-stars in the film, and you can hear Hathaway sing it below.

Rounding out the credits for the new song are Koreless, Xquisite Korpse, Tobias Jesso Jr., and Jeff Bhasker. It’s the second single we’ve heard Hathaway perform for Mother Mary, following “Burial” (which has no relation to the London electronic musician of the same name). That song was co-written by Hathaway, Charli XCX, Jack Antonoff, and George Daniel.

Directed by David Lowery, Mother Mary follows the titular pop star (Anne Hathaway) as she reunites with an estranged friend and stylist (Michaela Coel) when the search for a dress for her new tour draws them back together. It’s described by the production company as a “thrilling psychosexual pop opera.” The soundtrack to Mother Mary arrives on April 17 via A24 Music, while the movie itself hits limited theaters that same day before getting a wider release on April 24.

This isn’t Hathaway’s first time in the recording studio; she sang on the soundtracks for Les Misérables (“I Dreamed a Dream”) and Río (“Hot Wings (I Wanna Party)”). It’s also not FKA twigs’ first acting role, as the Eusexua singer has starred in the 2019 drama Honey Boy, a remake of the 1994 cult classic The Crow, the biblical horror flick The Carpenter’s Son, and the upcoming The Lonely Woman.
