Hope Of The States share rousing new single ‘Billboard Mountain’, announce ‘The Lost Riots’ reissue

Hope Of The States have shared their rousing new single ‘Billboard Mountain’ and announced plans to reissue their debut album ‘The Lost Riots’.

The Chichester post-rock band announced their huge comeback after 18 years of inactivity last July, after breaking up in 2006.

The band have since released comeback single ‘Long Waits In A & E’ and ‘Footage/Streamtrain’.

Now, they have shared their latest song ‘Billboard Mountain’, which you can listen to below.

The band have also announced a special edition vinyl repress of their 2004 debut album ‘The Lost Riots’ as part of National Album Day 2025 this Saturday (October 18).

The reissue features a foil print cover, battered metal coloured eco-vinyl along with a host of B-sides, some of which feature on vinyl for the first time.

It comes after the band recently kicked off a short UK tour in Bristol last night (October 14).

The tour will continue at London’s Islington Assembly Hall tonight (October 15), before wrapping up at Manchester’s Gorilla tomorrow (October 16). You can purchase any remaining tickets here.

Other artists set to release records on National Album Day 2025 include Liam Gallagher, Manic Street Preachers, Iggy Pop, Queen, Architects and many more.

Speaking previously about their comeback, Hope Of The States told NME about the state of their new music.

“We’re in a rehearsal room and have been smashing it together,” frontman Sam Herlihy said. “It’s all written and we’re going to go and record with Jolyon Thomas, who is the son of Ken Thomas who made our two records with. He was an absolute hero and I loved him dearly. He was an incredible, artistic, intimidating dude, but sadly he passed away last year. We first met Jolyon when we first met Ken when he was some snotty 16-year-old kid, and now he’s snotty whatever-year-old producer who makes records with U2.

“If the songs weren’t good, then I wouldn’t do this,” he continued. “As fun as it would be to to play the shows and give something back to fans would be lovely, it wouldn’t be enough to just play the old stuff. I genuinely believe that it’s as good if not better than the old stuff.”
