Host city and location for Eurovision 2027 revealed

Both the host city and location for the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest have been revealed – check out all the details below.

The 71st edition of the competition is taking place in Bulgaria next year, after Dara secured the first-ever Eurovision win for the country this May with the track ‘Bangaranga’.

Now, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and Bulgarian National Television (BNT) have confirmed that Eurovision 2027 will be held in Bulgaria’s Black Sea city Burgas.

The contest is set to be staged at Bulgaria’s newest sports and entertainment venue, Arena Burgas. The venue, which opened in 2023, holds up to 15,000 people for live concerts.

Burgas is Bulgaria’s fourth-largest city, and is known for its beaches, parks, cultural life and vibrant summer events, per the EBU. It also already has a strong reputation for hosting music, arts and international cultural festivals.

The city was selected after a competitive Host City process involving four Bulgarian cities.

Representatives of BNT and the EBU joined forces with international experts who have worked on Eurovision in recent years to review submitted documents, visit the proposed venues, hold meetings with the municipal teams and conduct several sessions.

Martin Green CBE, Director of the Eurovision Song Contest, said: “We are delighted that Burgas will be the Host City for the Eurovision Song Contest 2027.

“Burgas brings something really special to the Eurovision Song Contest. It is a vibrant, welcoming city on the Black Sea with a strong musical and cultural identity, and it has the ambition, infrastructure and passion needed to welcome the Eurovision family.”

He added: “For the first Eurovision Song Contest ever to be held in Bulgaria, we want to create something that feels truly Bulgarian while also being unmistakably Eurovision – a celebration that brings people together through music.

“We thank all of the cities which showed such enthusiasm in their bids to host Bulgaria’s first ever Eurovision Song Contest.

Green concluded: “Together with BNT, the City of Burgas and our partners across Bulgaria, we are looking forward to creating an unforgettable Eurovision week in May and welcoming the world to Burgas.”

Milena Milotinova, Director General of BNT, added: “It was an intense and highly competitive process, so congratulations to Burgas! With this victory comes great responsibility, and I hope the ultimate winners will be the many international visitors who come to experience Burgas.

“The selection of the Host City marks the beginning of the next key stage in Bulgaria’s preparations for the Eurovision Song Contest 2027. BNT, the EBU and Burgas now have an intensive period of collaboration ahead of us as we work together to deliver a Contest that meets the high expectations of millions of viewers around the world.”

She continued: “I am confident that Bulgaria will be a worthy host of Europe’s biggest live music television event and will showcase the very best of our culture, hospitality and professionalism.”

Dimitar Nikolov, Мayor of Вurgas, said it was “an exceptional honour for us to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2027”.

“I would like to thank BNT and the EBU for their trust,” he went on. “We are now one team, working together to make the next edition of the Contest an unforgettable experience for both the participants and the hundreds of millions of viewers around the world.

“As the centre of Bulgaria’s southern Black Sea coast, Burgas offers Bulgaria’s most modern arena, excellent hotels and transport connections, as well as outstanding infrastructure and natural assets. The entire Burgas region is part of our team – our municipalities, institutions, universities, schools, cultural organisations, artists, volunteers and local businesses.”

Nikolov added: “This is not about one city hosting Eurovision. This is Bulgaria hosting Eurovision – an entire community, united and inspired.”

Further information about the participating broadcasters, ticket sales, and the wider programme of live events in Burgas for Eurovision 2027 will be shared in the coming months.

Eurovision host cities from recent years have enjoyed significant economic boosts. Liverpool saw a €66million increase in 2023, Malmö €40million in 2024, and Basel €58million in 2025. The latter also generated a reported €272million surge for Switzerland nationally.

Vienna is already experiencing strong returns from staging the 2026 contest, with 88,000 additional visitors to the city, 160,000 hotel rooms sold and an estimated €57million economic boost.

The announcement of next year’s host city comes shortly after Eurovision shared some rule changes for countries at war during the competition.

This year’s contest once again proved fraught with controversy, with several countries – Ireland, Netherlands, Slovenia, Iceland and Spain – boycotting the event in protest at Israel’s inclusion, despite the nation’s military action in Gaza.

Despite the backlash, Israel came in second place at Eurovision 2026 behind Bulgaria. The country was the runner-up in the 2025 competition, too.

Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that Canada will enter the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time in 2027.
