Hundreds queue for Foo Fighters tickets after last-minute intimate gig announcements: “What a fever dream”

Hundreds of Foo Fighters queued outside venues this morning after the band announced a trio of intimate gigs for this week.

On Sunday morning (February 22), Dave Grohl and co. revealed that they would be playing small shows at Dublin’s Academy on Monday (February 23), London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire on Wednesday (February 25) and Manchester’s O2 Ritz on Friday (February 27).

In order to get tickets, fans had to queue outside the respective venues at 12pm and they were handed out on a first come, first serve basis. They were priced at £99 each and fans were limited to two tickets per person.

Inevitably, all three venues saw huge queues of Foos fans amassing as midday drew near, and at 1:55pm, the band confirmed on social media that both Dublin and Manchester had sold out, while at the time there were still London tickets available, with the box office set to close at 5:30pm.

UPDATE: Dublin & Manchester are SOLD OUT!!!
LONDON: you’ve still got time!!!
Tickets at box office ONLY – closes at 5:30pm.

Some of those successful in getting their hands on tickets took to social media to celebrate, with one writing: “Foo Fighters tickets secured for tomorrow what a fever dream morning that was”.

Others praised the band’s policy of requiring fans to queue in person, pointing out that it might help protect the tickets from touts. “Well done Foo Fighters. I love what they’ve done,” wrote one X user. “You can only buy tickets at the venue and the surprise announcements. Real fans get to see the band and what I really like is it’s bad news for touts.”

One Foo Fighters fan, Jools, 21, said he is ‘lost for words’ at getting a ticket to the band’s surprise gig.

He said he had actually only just woken up when he heard the news, and rushed straight down to the O2 Ritz to try and bag a ticket. @MENnewsdesk

Rob, 27, said he is ‘bamboozled’ by the Foo Fighters’ announcement today.

Some people were critical of the tickets being priced at £99, with one X user describing it as “unreasonable”, and another calling it a “mental price”.

The fact those ‘intimate’ Foo Fighters gigs are happening with only in-person ticket sales and with short notice is cool but expecting people to be able to afford £99 within a day or twos notice is unreasonable but people always do it so they don’t miss out.

Foo Fighters doing a short notice Ritz gig sounds great, barely a chance of me scoring a ticket now anyway ffs, but £99 is a mental price I’m sorry 😂

The band are also set to play a European stadium tour that will include two nights at Liverpool’s Anfield Stadium at the end of June. There will also be a North American stadium tour for the summer, and they also recently announced an Australian and New Zealand tour for late 2026 and early 2027.

Foo Fighters announced their 12th full-length effort earlier this week (February 19) and shared the lead single and title track ‘Your Favorite Toy’. The album will be released on April 24, and Grohl has teased that the new album is stacked with “noisy, loud bangers” that feel like they’re from “the old days”.

In a four-star review of new ‘Your Favorite Toy’ single, NME wrote: “Foos have certainly turned up the heat, shifting to a more thrilling gear when they could cruise down the slow lane to keep things rolling across the stadium and festival circuit this summer.

“Despite having made headlines in recent years for drummer squabbles and infidelity, their comeback single is snarlingly unapologetic. This is not a cap-in-hand call for peace, love and understanding. It’s a middle finger statement of intent: “Nah nah nah!”
