A new documentary about Iron Maiden promises to trace the heavy metal group’s “unwavering connection” with fans.

On Tuesday, producers at Universal Pictures International announced that a film titled Iron Maiden: Burning Ambition will be released in theatres worldwide on 7 May.

Directed by Malcolm Venville and produced by Dominic Freeman, the feature-length documentary chronicles the band’s “remarkable” five-decade journey.

“With unprecedented access to official band archives, Iron Maiden: Burning Ambition charts five decades of one of the most iconic journeys in music history,” a synopsis reads. “This electrifying film offers an intimate look at their uncompromising vision and unwavering connection with their global army of fans.”

Originally formed in East London in 1975, Iron Maiden is currently comprised of Steve Harris, Dave Murray, Adrian Smith, Bruce Dickinson, Nicko McBrain, and Janick Gers.

In addition to interviews with the bandmembers, the project will include reflections from high-profile fans, including actor Javier Bardem, Metallica’s Lars Ulrich, and rapper Chuck D.

Meanwhile, key art by Albert “Akirant” Quirantes offers the first visual look at the documentary.

The Hallowed Be Thy Name rockers released their seventeenth studio album, Senjutsu, in 2021, and are preparing to embark on the 2026 stint of the Run For Your Lives World Tour.

Iron Maiden are next set to play a concert in Athens, Greece on 23 May.

Tickets for Iron Maiden: Burning Ambition go on sale on 18 March.
