Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson has teased a new solo album, which he is recording at Dave Grohl‘s Studio 606.

Dickinson previously released his last record ‘The Mandrake Project’ in 2024 following on from ‘Tyranny Of Souls’, which was shared back in 2005.
Along with an album, ‘The Mandrake Project’ was a cross-media multimedia concept, combining the record with a 12-issue quarterly adult comic book series.
But Dickinson has now confirmed in a new interview with VSX, that he is working on a new LP due for release in 2027 on BMG.
“It’s kind of standalone. There’s one song that has a bit of something to do with ‘Mandrake’,” he said. “Now, the album is heavy as shit. I’m not digging into ‘Mandrake’. I think ‘Mandrake’ has a life now on a comic book level, so it can just go on the basis of story and everything else. I don’t need to associate music with it unless it’s a really good idea.”
He went on to say that he tries not to repeat his output from previous records, adding: “You want to move on and put different nuance on things. It’s like, I would say, if you have an amazing girlfriend and you start thinking, ‘Yeah, I’m getting a little bit bored,’ or something else like that, just turn the lights down and turn it a different way, and you see a side that you think, ‘Oh, my God, she’s absolutely incredible.’ Just the red light there or the green or whatever, and you see, you see the same person in a different day, in a different light.
“Music is something which you try not to stick too much of a format, but you are still within a particular… I’m within a particular style, for sure. But I try and vary it as much as I can.”
His upcoming solo album was recorded in January and February earlier this year at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 in Northridge, California with producer Brendan Duffey.
Elsewhere, Dickinson recently covered David Bowie‘s ‘All The Young Dudes’ with Green Day‘s Billie Joe Armstrong with his band The Coverups in San Diego. Dickinson previously recorded his own version of the classic hit on his 1990 album ‘Tattooed Millionaire’.
Maiden meanwhile, recently sold 50 per cent of the rights to their likenesses and their music to Pophouse Entertainment.
The band are among the inductees for the 2026 Rock N Roll Hall of Fame too, alongside Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Joy Division/New Order, Oasis, Sade, Luther Vandross and Wu-Tang Clan. They recently made it clear, however, that they will not be attending.
