The ‘Skinny Love’ hitmaker shared a new video on his official Instagram account which may be a teaser for a new single or album. The monochromatic clip sees someone holding a clapperboard in front of him which is closed and moved to reveal Vernon sporting a western style shirt and wide-brimmed hat covering his eyes as he looks down.
The clip then changes to a black screen with the website boniver.org popping up followed by the word “Jagjaguwar”. Fans immediately took to the comments section to share their excitement over the cryptic teaser.
“I’m gonna be sick on the carpet oh my GOD ITS HAPPENING,” wrote one fan while another shared: “It’s autumn he’s defrosting.” The official Bon Iver website leads fans to a pre-save site. Though there is no explicit information as to what is being pre-saved (if it is a single or album), fans can sign up for a mailing list and pre-save on major streaming platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music.
Bon Iver’s last full-length release was 2019’s ‘i, i’. In a glowing five-star review of the LP, NME shared: “It’s the perfect summation of ‘i, i’ in its entirety, with contradictory instrumental lines gorgeously meshing together, turning the older sounds into something fresh and new. But it also feels bittersweet. With ‘i, i’ marking the end of the album cycle, the possibility of any future Bon Iver music is uncertain.
“Over 12 years the music Justin Vernon has created as Bon Iver has constantly changed, but that doesn’t mean the old sounds have been undone; they’ve been repurposed and reused, evolving into something different – but always as compelling as the Bon Iver of yesteryear.”
In other news, Bon Iver recently performed a short set in support of current US Vice President Kamala Harris‘ rally in Wisconsin last month.
