It looks like a Yungblud and Eddie Vedder collab could be on the way

It looks like a Yungblud and Eddie Vedder collab could be on the way

Yungblud is seemingly continuing to collaborate with some of the biggest names in rock – suggesting that music with Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder could be on the way next.

The Doncaster rock star – real name Dominic Harrison – has been turning heads over the past couple of years by rubbing shoulders with some of the most iconic names in the genre, and finding fans in the likes of Ozzy Osbourne, Aerosmith, and more.

Now it seems that he has won over another big name, hinting in a new interview that he may be working on some music with Grunge icon Eddie Vedder in the future.

The two singers met at a lavish corporate Christmas party last month, which was organised by holding company Eldridge Industries. They took to the stage alongside Bruno Mars, Guns N’ Roses’ Duff McKagan and Slash, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith and Anthony Kiedis, Brandi Carlile, Andrew Watt and more.

Afterwards, Yungblud was pictured backstage hanging out with a handful of the other artists, and then he told Rolling Stone in a recent interview that it was the Pearl Jam frontman who really resonated with him.

“Eddie’s such an inspiration to me, especially vocally,” he said, before subtly adding: “I think we might write together in the future.”

If the partnership does come to fruition, it’ll follow on from Yungblud teaming up with The Smashing Pumpkins earlier this month for a rocked-up rendition of his hit song ‘Zombie‘, and also coming together with Aerosmith to share the collaborative EP ‘One More Time’.

He met both Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins and Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler while performing at Black Sabbath’s final-ever show in July.

After Ozzy’s death just weeks after the gig, Harrison, Tyler and Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt paid a tribute to the Prince of Darkness at the MTV VMAs.

Both Yungblud and Osbourne were close, and went viral ahead of the final Black Sabbath show when footage emerged of Yungblud gifting Ozzy a custom-made cross necklace.

Last month, Sharon Osbourne spoke to Piers Morgan in one of her first interviews since Osbourne’s death, and hinted that Yungblud may be booked to play the heavy metal pioneer in an upcoming biopic.

At time of writing, no further details have been shared about a collaboration with Eddie Vedder, although Yungblud is set to release the second part of his ‘Idols’ albums “imminently”.

While many names in rock have been vocal supporters of Yungblud, the same cannot be said of The Darkness, with both frontman Justin Hawkins and his brother/guitarist Dan criticising the Doncaster singer multiple times since the VMAs show.

The most recent of which saw Justin take aim at his background in Disney, and said that “if the future of rock needs auto-tune to carry a song, then we are in trouble”.

As for Pearl Jam, their latest album ‘Dark Matter’ arrived in spring 2024, and was given a glowing four-star review, with NME praising it as “some of their strongest work in recent memory”.

“For those longing for the charismatic songwriting that first put the band on the map over three decades ago, ‘Dark Matter’ will come as a pleasant surprise,” it read.

“Not only does it showcase Pearl Jam reclaiming the charm that first made them a force to be reckoned with back in 1991, it comes alongside some of their most impressive musicianship yet, as well as a determination to take risks after years of playing it safe.”
